This review is my personal opinion and not that of the company that I work for which will remain unnamed. I visited Vandeberg Scales in 2016. It is your typical mom and pop company with its fair share of problems. I normally don't write reviews, but thought I might in this case. When we go to meet potential suppliers, we evaluate the facility, its employees, and look for general problems that may impact our expanding business. A few things I noticed were the large amount of garbage and junk laying around the building. Old cars, snowmobiles, and a variety of junk I would be embarrassed to have around. The main motivating factor to write this review was how cramped the facility is. I spoke with someone and they brought this topic up and said its been a point of contention for years. The owner has a couple more garage bays, but those are for the family to store RV's, racing cars, and other odds and ends. They barely have enough space to work in when it gets busy, but those extra garages are off limits. From a customer point of view, it looks like Dave needs to have that banner from Office Space that reads "Is this good for the company." It seems like a decent number of ways he personally is holding the company back from expanding. The person I spoke to also said "you'd damn near get fired if you bring it up." This says a lot about the company and the work environment. I told the person I spoke to that I would say something, so this review is the result of that conversation.
My name is Jeff Gross and I've been General Manager of Vande Berg Scales since 1999. It did not take long for me to realize that this company is very customer service oriented. Our customers come to us to help them solve their problems. Many times our relationship with our customers seems to be more of a partnership than a typical supplier/buyer type of relationship. Our sales and engineering departments work closely with our customers to come up with what both parties feel is the best solutions to their problems. Our production department then takes these solutions and makes them a reality. Next, our service department not only QA's and installs your equipment, but then is also available 24/7 to help you if your equipment is not functioning properly. Are we perfect? Unfortunately no, but we really do try. Sometimes our solutions do not go accordingly to plan, but situations like this is when the people of Vande Berg Scales really stand out! We're big enough to get the project done, but small enough to really care. We come up with contingency plans and overcome the obstacles that would otherwise spell defeat. Our customers know that we do not consider failure an option and depend on us to carry their projects to success. Every employee at Vande Berg Scales knows that if we take care of the customer, everything else will take care of itself.
