Eli Cash took a claim in Decatur County in 1845 which his young son William Cash afterward entered the government. Eli died in 1849 and was the first tombstone burial on Cash land. Although the story goes that while traveling through in 1845 or 46, a father asked Eli Cash if he could bury his girl on this land. This would of been the first burial an unmarked grave in the southeast corner of the fenced in area.
